Principal Investigator

Prof. Hyung Ham (David) Kim

Prof. Hyung Ham (David) Kim received his Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA in 2010.

He served as the Manager and Principal Engineer of the Probe Department at Medison Co., Ltd. in Seoul, Korea, from 1994 to 2004, where he managed the research and development projects of medical ultrasound array transducers. He worked as a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Southern California and as the Manager of the NIH Resource Center for Medical Ultrasonic Transducer Technology until he joined Analogic Inc., Peabody, MA in 2014. At Analogic, he led the research solutions business as a Director of Business Development till 2016. He is a currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Creative IT Engineering at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Pohang, Korea. His current research is focused on the design and fabrication of high-frequency, high-resolution ultrasound imaging, photoacoustic imaging and stimulation with focused ultrasound.

 

Research Professor

Hae Gyun Lim

Hae Gyun Lim received his B.S. degree in biochemistry from University of California, Los Angeles, CA in 2010. He obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in biomedical engineering from University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA in 2014 and 2017, respectively. From 2013 through 2017, he was a Research Assistant for the NIH Resource Center for Medical Ultrasonic Transducer Technology. Dr. Lim currently works as a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the Future IT Innovation Laboratory at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), Pohang, Korea. His research interests include ultrasonic transducers, cell manipulation, and high frequency ultrasound microbeams.

 

Graduate Students

Kyungmin Kim

Kyungmin Kim is a MS-Ph.D. candidate in the Creative IT Engineering Department at POSTECH, South Korea. He received his B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering at Kyungpook National University, South Korea, in 2016.  He has interested in piezoelectric material, biochip, signal processing, and biomedical ultrasound application.

Jeongwoo Park completed his double-B.S. in Electronic Engineering at Kyungpook National University and Warsaw University of Technology. He is an MS-PhD candidate in School of Interdisciplinary Bioscience and Bioengineering at POSTECH.

Dasom Heo is currently in an MS/Ph.D. integrated program in Mechanical Engineering at POSTECH, South Korea. She received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at POSTECH, South Korea in 2017. She is interested in the fluidics, biomedical high-frequency ultrasound application, and stimulated application of the ultrasound. She develops miniaturized ultrasound transducers which size is under 1 mm.
